I am saddened and grieve for the folks in Newtown, Connecticut. I am dismayed at the sudden cry of outrage from the many who would ban all firearms of any kind. The tragedy of this event is an opening of many who will stir the pot to ban bullets, guns, licenses and create more regulation and red tape.
The real problem is not with the weapons, but the users. Increase mental health programs and education to early and more easily identify potential threats. Educate the populace to observe and detect possible problems. Provide funding in a logical direction to law enforcement, educators, medical personnel who can evaluate, identify and treat persons with the potential to create this scenario again.
Provide funding to identify and correct the access into the school environment. A suggestion would be classrooms that can be locked down, shuttered and protected. This would isolate the threat and give law enforcement and medical personnel a chance to defuse a situation. Expensive, Yes. But thoughtful ideas and discussion could develop solutions that could apply to all areas where potential threats to many could occur.
The bottom line, don't run screaming about a falling sky, Stop, Think, Investigate Openly and then find an INTELLIGENT SOLUTION.

More than 1,000 American soldiers have lost their lives in Afghanistan in the last 27 months. This is more than the combined total of the nine years before. Thirty have died in August.
The commander in chief is AWOL. Not a peep, although he ordered the White House flag flown at half mast for the Sihks that were killed. There is a deep disgust, a fury, growing in the ranks of the military against the indifferent incompetence of this president. It has taken on a dangerous tone. No one knows what to do about him, but the anger runs deep as the deaths continue with no strategic end in sight to the idiocy of this war. Obama has had 4 years to end this futile insanity, during which time he has vacationed, golfed, campaigned, and generally ignored the plight of our men and women in uniform.
But, there is now a movement afoot in the armed services to launch a massive get out the vote drive against this president. Not just current active duty types, but the National Guard, Reserves, the retired, and all other prior service members. This is no small special interest group, but many millions of veterans who can have an enormous impact on the outcome of the November election if they all respond. The million military retirees in Florida alone could mean an overwhelming victory in that state if they all show up at the polls.
It might not keep another one hundred U.S. troops from dying between now and November, but a turn out to vote by the military against this heart breaking lack of leadership can make a powerful statement that hastens a change to the indifference of this shallow little man who just lets our soldiers die.
Move this on to all the Vets and caring Americans that you know.

It's time for change.
I am ready. The new party to which I will belong is "The No Incumbent Party". Be on notice, all you currently elected officials, you have failed miserably. You have damaged the credibility, honor, respect and faith of our nation. Shame on you all. "You Are Fired".
To all veterans, teachers, citizens, and seniors, it is time to let our representatives know how we feel. We are mad and want you out of office and we will start anew. We will be going after all those who have failed to hear and do what those represented wanted them to do.
The new campaign slogan is " You are Fired" Get out and don't come back. It may be a tough road to regain our credibility, honor, respect and faith of our nation, but we will do it without your "Help".
Join me in sending the new message.

Time for a sanity check:
A couple of years ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.
Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we've seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3 a gallon (and rising)
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase); (and rising)
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!
Be careful what you vote for in November, you might get it again!
Can you afford it?

I have been watching the news sporadically as I really get tired of the retoric and garbage that spews from candidates mouths. I read blogs from Greybeard and others and agree with them that we are in deep deep trouble. So who's to blame. Well, I think we have shot outselves in the foot, leg, and private parts, because as Pogo once said "We met the enemy and it was us".
I don't know who Charley Reese is but I thought this interesting reading....
THE 545 PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR AMERICA 'S WOES BY CHARLEY REESE
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.
Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we have deficits? Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes?
You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does. You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does. You and I don't write the tax code. Congress does. You and I don't set fiscal policy. Congress does. You and I don't control monetary policy. The Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president and nine Supreme Court justices - 545 human beings out of the 300 million - are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered but private central bank.
I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman or a president to do one cotton- picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it.
No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.
A CONFIDENCE CONSPIRACY Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a SPEAKER, who stood up and criticized G.W. Bush ALONE for creating deficits.
The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it. The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes.
Who is the speaker of the House? She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow Democrats, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto, if they can get enough Republicans to agree.
REPLACE THE SCOUNDRELS
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts - of incompetence and irresponsibility.
I can't think of a single domestic problem, from an unfair tax code to defense overruns, that is not traceable directly to those 545 people
When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair. If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red. If the Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQ .
There are no insoluble government problems. Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power.
Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exist disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation" or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible. They, and they alone, have the power. They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses - provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees. We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess.

Immigration- A study in futility.
I think my patience is beginning to wear really thin. I recieved the following and went to Snopes.com to verify it and was absolutely shocked. Where and when have we lost all out common sense, ethics, morality and patriotism. This is worse than I have imagined.
A conversation between a Customer and Bank of America:
The Bank: Bank of America, can I help you?
Customer: Yes, I want to cancel my account. I don't want to do business with you any longer.
The Bank: Why?
Customer: You're giving credit to illegal immigrants and I don't think it's right. I'm taking my business elsewhere.
The Bank: Well, Mr. Customer, we don't want to see you do that, but we can't stop you. I'll help you close the account. What is your account number?
Customer: (gives account number)
The Bank: For security purposes and for your protection, can you please give me the last four digits of your social security number?
Customer: No.
The Bank: Mr. Customer, I need to verify your information, but in order to help you, I'll need verification of who you are.
Customer: Why should I give you my social security number? The reason I'm closing my account is that your bank is issuing credit cards to illegal immigrants who don't have social security numbers. You are targeting that audience and want their business. Let's say I'm an illegal immigrant and you've given me a credit card. I have a question about it and call for assistance. You wouldn't be asking me for a Social Security number, would you?
The Bank: No sir, I wouldn't.
Customer: Why not?
The Bank: Because you would have pressed '2' to speak in Spanish. We don't ask for that information when calling in on the Spanish line.

Yesterday was the 6th anniversary of one of the most catastrophic acts ever perpetrated against our Nation. I was trying to remember what I was doing that fateful day. MommaNurse wrote her thoughts in her blog, and I wanted to do the same.
I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when President Kennedy was assassinated. I can clearly recall every momentous occasion that has affected my and my families lives. I cannot, simply cannot, recall that horrible day in 2001.
I remember phrases, and conversations from that day.
"Have you turned on your TV?"
"Can you see this?"
" Did you get hold of your son and is he OK?"
I cannot remember anything else, I never left watching television, waiting for news, calling friends, checking on folks I knew to be in the City. But I cannot clearly remember anything else. It was mind-numbing. I was angry, saddened, horrified, disgusted, and worried. Recently, I received an E-Mail of pictures of the USS New York. I was gratified, impressed and awed by the story. I cannot imagine a more poignant use of the remains of the towers. I may be vengeful, but I truly hope the New York is able to deliver some retribution for the shameless atrocities imposed on our Nation.
Please visit Snopes.com and look up USS New York. and read the story.
